Britons are not keen on foregoing their annual holidays, a travel expert has highlighted. Sharron Livingston, editor of thetravelmagazine. Net, believes people will always find the cash to fund their next Canal Boat Holiday or other break. 'Everybody will put aside some budget for a holiday, no matter how small,' she commented, suggesting that holidaying at home is likely to grow in popularity. People have 'discovered Britain', Ms Livingston commented, which may mean they embark on more Canal Boat Holidays than in the past over the coming years. According to recent research commissioned by VisitBritain, the total value of tourism to the UK is set to rise by more than 60 per cent to reach £188 billion over the next decade. The report calculates that the total economic contribution that home and overseas visitors make to the UK currently stands at £115 billion per annum. |
