People on Canal Boat breaks will find there is plenty to see and do beside the country's waterways, it has been revealed. Whether its cycling, walking or simply having a picnic, there is always something to get involved in, British Waterways revealed. It said that Canal Boat breaks typically offer holidaymakers some tranquillity and a means of escaping hectic day-to-day lives, without a hefty price tag. Waterway manager Sean McGinley commented: 'More than 50 per cent of Brits live within five miles of a canal or river and increasing numbers are turning to the waterways for a fun, convenient alternative to expensive attractions or holidays abroad. 'He added that canals can provide a place for families to spend quality time together in a way that money cannot buy. VisitEngland's head of strategy and engagement Jenny McGee recently said that the good bank holiday weather is likely to bring people outside to make the most of what the UK has to offer. |
