Key reasons behind this trend are the growing hassle for families heading overseas, with flight delays, health and the business of airports all putting people off overseas trips.

Earlier this month, figures from BDRC Continental showed that Canal Boat Holidays in the UK are gaining in popularity for those from overseas.

Seven out of ten people asked by the company reported that they were interested in taking a holiday to Britain.
