People on Canal Boat Holidays in Bristol will be in for a treat as one of its best-loved attractions has welcomed some rather unique visitors. Those heading to the Blue Reef Aquarium will be able to see two species of Lake Malawi cichlids, which have just had some new arrivals. The African fish have flourished in their Bristol home, staff at the aquarium revealed, which curator Dan de Castro believes shows how dedicated the attraction is to ensuring the welfare of its fish. He continued: 'We're monitoring the babies' progress but cichlids are such good parents that there’s not a lot more we can do - apart from enjoy watching them develop. 'This follows the announcement earlier this month that the Blue Reef Aquarium had received some potosi pupfish, which can no longer be found in the wild. It is now working alongside the Zoological Society of London to help ensure the fish do not die out completely. |
