People on Canal Boat Holidays in Wales may get to see a rare sight over the coming days, as an historical boat enters into the final leg of its tour. A horse-drawn boat called Saturn is making its way between Wrexham and Denbighshire on the Llangollen Canal, the BBC reports. The 11-mile journey began on May 7th and is expected to take around eight days. Among the aims of the project is to strengthen links between the ten communities that lie along the World Heritage Site. Community project officer Piers Warburton said: 'Our programme of heritage, environmental and history awareness sessions are equipping local people with practical skill sets which increase their understanding of this popular visitor destination. ' Several events will mark the occasion at various points en route, including barbeques and social evenings. British Waterways recently urged voters to take part in a walk and survey along Llangollen Canal on May 6th. |
