People on Canal Boat Holidays in Wales will now be able to make use of a newly upgraded towpath in the country. The path forms part of the 75-mile Lon Cambria National Cycling Route and takes in some of Wales' most scenic areas along the Montgomery Canal. It meanders past the villages of Abermule and Aberbechan, marking the first of many towpath improvements to be carried out in the country. British Waterways regeneration manager Jason Leach said: 'The project will open up the waterway for the benefit of local communities, in addition to forming a gateway to attract more visitors to this stunning waterway and its heritage-rich corridor. 'He noted that people with mobility restrictions will now be able to make use of the route following its improvements. It was recently revealed that plans are afoot to ensure the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal Project can continue its good work long into the future. . |
