People on Canal Boat Holidays in Wessex over the coming weekend have been invited to take part in a series of walks to raise money for a good cause. Save the Children will benefit from funds raised on Sunday (May 9th) as scores of people embark on walks throughout the region. The event is now in its 45th year so there has never been a better time to don your walking boots and join in the fun. There are 20 walks in total to choose from, ranging from two-mile strolls to the more adventurous 20-mile hikes. To date, around 400,000 walkers have taken part in the event although the charity is hoping people will be out in force this year to support its work and raise much-needed funds. Save the Children has been in operation for 90 years and has campaigned on a number of issues including education, war and religious unrest. |
