People planning Canal Boat Holidays in the UK this year have been told that a fun-packed programme of events has been lined up for the months to come, courtesy of British Waterways. Activities like wildlife watching, canal festivals, food events and craft workshops will be taking place in and around canals all around the country as the weather gets warmer and more people take Canal Boat Holidays in the UK. Cassie Weaver, volunteer coordinator for British Waterways, said that the happenings will help local communities to feel a sense of ownership and pride in their local canals. 'What all the events showcase is the vast amount of opportunities there are for the public to get involved in their local waterway, whether it's visiting a waterside festival or joining in with a volunteer event such as Towpath Tidy,' she added. Last year, the number of adults visiting an inland waterway rose to a record 13 million. |
