The Leeds And Liverpool Canal towpath is currently the subject of work, which could lead people to go on Canal Boat Holidays in Reading. Closures will be taking place along the two kilometre stretch between Chorley and Adlington, with the towpaths being shut to pedestrian access. The work is will resurface and widen the towpath and introduce upgrades to washwalls and access points. Steve Higham, regeneration project manager for British Waterways, claimed that this area is particularly well-used. He stated: 'This partnership approach will help to deliver real improvements to a multi-user route so more people can benefit from all that the waterways can offer. ' Mr Higham said that the group is currently working with a number of user groups and local authorities to expand the waterway network. British Waterways Scotland recently warned those on Canal Boat Holidays this winter to use common sense when walking along towpaths, as these can be slippy, Boness Journal has reported. |
