02-07-2010 : Enjoy rich heritage on UK canal boat holidays

There is plenty to be learnt about history and heritage on UK Canal Boat Holidays, a tourism expert has claimed.

Marketing and communications manager at UKinbound Ian Dulson highlighted that this is one of the main appeals to people visiting the country.

'A lot of other countries don't have anything like our history and obviously a lot of our historical things are free,' he commented.

Planning ahead before heading off is essential, the expert suggested, as this can help people make the most of their UK Canal Boat Holiday.

According to a recent report from Sheffield Hallam University, the seaside tourist industry in England and Wales remains a substantial and growing employer.

The industry in England and Wales alone directly supports some 210,000 jobs spread across more than 100 resorts, the research found.

Furthermore, large numbers of additional jobs are also supported indirectly through the supply chain.
