Foxton Locks on The Grand Union Canal has been awarded a Red Wheel from the Transport Trust. The Wheel has been awarded to Foxton Locks in recognition of its historical interest. The Red Wheel awards are similar to the English Heritages Blue Plaques, which commemorates transport sites of historical interest. The nationwide scheme was launched in 2009 to mark sites of historical interest with Red Wheel plaques.
The Foxton Locks are only a few hours away from our Canal Boat Holiday base at Market Harborough and is situated on the Leicester Arm of the Grand Union Canal. It is a great place to moor on the first night of you Canal Boat Holiday. Visit the museum and learn out about the history of the flight of 10 locks and the famous inclined plane boat lift. Take part in a self guided tour of the locks or simply just watch the Canal Boats go through. There is a pub and a tea shop at Foxton if you want to eat out on the first night of your UK Canal Boat Holiday.
