As of 7th September 2011 a void has opened up beneath one of the tail gate quadrants at lock 39E on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

A British Waterways team are on site and they are reviewing the situation and a further update will be issued by them later today.

  They will be contacting customers with planned passages at Standedge Tunnel to advise them of the situation but it is unlikely that any passages to or from the tunnel summit pound will be possible today.
