Those on Canal Boat Holidays in Yorkshire should pay a visit to Standedge on February 6th for the Imbolc Fire Festival.

This year's will be the 18th time the annual festival has taken place and it will include fire sculptures, a fire circus and a re-inaction of the symbolic battle between Jack Frost and the Green Man.

Based on the traditional Celtic celebration of the changing of the seasons, it attracts approximately 2,000 people each year and is one of Marsden's biggest events.

Angie Boycott-Gartnett, the festival's organiser, said last year's turnout was fantastic and that it is well worth going on a Canal Boat Holiday in Yorkshire to enjoy it.

She said: 'The battle we stage between Jack Frost and the Green Man is a real family favourite and over the years Imbolc has become a key date in the local event calendar.
