Locals and people on Worcestershire Canal Boat Holidays alike are being asked to donate their time towards a good cause.

The Droitwich Barge Canal is in need of some assistance, so British Waterways is calling on the public to see if they can help.

Among the tasks that volunteers will be involved in is cutting the grass, improving the meadow so flowers can grow and managing the pond.

This will help wildlife thrive in the area once again, while giving tourists natural areas to marvel at when visiting the 5.

5-hectare site.

Volunteer supervisor for British Waterways Suzanne Byrne informed participants: 'Everyone is welcome to pitch in, but please bear in mind wearing outdoor clothing suitable for an unpredictable English summer.

'Similar calls for help were recently made at Ripley Reservoir, which has become over-run by algae.
