If you are cruising the Huddersfield Narrow Canal this weekend on your Canal Boat Holiday moor up at Marsden and pop along to the Jazz Festival. Thousands of music lovers are expected in the village over the weekend to listen to some of the countrys finest jazz performers. This annual family friendly event is held in indoor and outdoor venues in the historic mill village of Marsden in West Yorkshire. The festival will play host to some of the biggest name in jazz including Kenny Ball and his jazz men. During your Canal Boat Holiday at Marsden visit the Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre to see first hand what life would have been like for the people who worked and lived on the canals. Navigate your way through the The Standedge Tunnel which at 17,000 feet long, 638 feet below ground and 645 feet above sea level makes it the highest, deepest and longest tunnel on the UK canal system. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the centre of Slaithwaite and this pleasant country town offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. From here you can take a towpath walk to the village of Golcar, a lovely place to explore and to have a pub meal.
