Mount Etna on the Italian island of Sicily started to erupt again at the weekend and sent flames and sparks shooting 250 metres into the air. There were worries that the ash could affect flights but the winds blew the ash away from the airport so no flights were cancelled or delayed. Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe and dominates the landscape of Sicily. Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity.
Hopefully you will not experience an erupting volcano on your Canal Boat Holiday but you will encounter many unusual sights. You may think you are seeing things when you spot a Lighthouse on your Canal Boat Holiday but it is true, it may be 30 miles from the sea but one stands on the banks of the Bridgewater Canal. The ocean in the canal Jellyfish, mussels and seaweed can be seen on a Canal Boat Holiday exploring the Leeds And Liverpool Canal. On a Canal Boat Holiday in Birmingham you can find a beach well not so much sand as dirt but is there really one located right under The Gravelly Hill Interchange which is better known as Spaghetti Junction.
