The winter may have taken its toll on many flowers this year, but thankfully many are now in full bloom for people to enjoy on Canal Boat breaks. Bluebells are particularly rife at the moment, the Wildlife Trust revealed, with many locations up and down the country welcoming visitors to take a look. They reproduce very rapidly, meaning there are plenty to be seen at UK reserves, noted Brian Eversham, chief executive of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough Wildlife Trust. He advised visitors that there is far more to be discovered at this time of year. 'The aromatic, golden-yellow colt's foot, exotic-looking 'cuckoo pint', and the parasitic toothwort, all these are flowers you may spot on a spring walk, and which enrich the overall experience by adding variety,' the expert explained. There are 47 Wildlife Trusts throughout the whole of the UK, the Isle of Man and Alderney. |
