The 2012 Olympics could give the UK a chance to really make a difference to its tourism legacy, Canal Boat Holidaymakers have been told. John Penrose MP, minister for tourism and heritage, noted that when the event has been held elsewhere, its legacy has lived on for many years. He commented: 'If we get it right, we will suck all sorts of people into this country who haven't been before and wouldn't have thought of it. 'Mr Penrose hopes that people will not only visit the UK in search of great sporting events, but also opportunities that will enable them to extend their stays further. Later this month, the World Travel Market will take place, with exhibitors from London expected to showcase what the city has to offer. Among those expected are representatives from the Pestana Chelsea Bridge and the Passage of Terror. |
