28-02-2011 : ROYAL MAIL ISSUE THEIR LATEST SET OF STAMPS

Royal Mail have launched a set of eight new stamps depicting some of our favourite stage musicals.

We Will Rock You based on the songs by Queen, Monty Python's Spamalot, Blood Brother and Oliver are the shows featuring on the new first class stamps.

Me and My Girl, The Rocky Horror Show, Billy Elliot and Return to the Forbidden Planet are all featured on the 97p stamp.

Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor launched the new stamps and they said We're thrilled that We Will Rock You has been immortalised on a Royal Mail stamp.

Blood Brothers creator Willy Russell last night said he was really chuffed with the accolade, it's image features two arms with hands clasped above the Liverpool waterfront.

Many of our best loved theatres are close to the canals and a Canal Boat Holiday is a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a performance.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a large national theatre owned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and is probably the most famous classical theatre company in the world.

Based in Stratford upon Avon it is easily reached from our base at Alvechurch.

The Swan Theatre in Worcester is hosting Some Like it Hot in March 2011 so go and watch the Marilyn Munroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis film classic brought to life.

The Bristol Hippodrome can be visited from our resort at Hilperton and during March they will be hosting one of the Westends favourite musicals Chess by Tim Rice and the former ABBA members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.

The Mikron Theatre Group even comes to you on your Canal Boat Holiday as they tour on their Narrowboat Tyseley taking the exciting world of the theatre to venues all along the canal system.
