Those on Canal Boat Holidays in Staffordshire could soon get to see a famed collection of gold in Lichfield due to the actions of the area's MP. Michael Fabricant has called for the Staffordshire Hoard to be exhibited in the town, which is where it was originally uncovered, the Lichfield Blog has reported. He has amended a parliamentary motion which will see the collection being shown in Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent to apply to the town. 'It should return to Lichfield – preferably all of it, or failing that, in part,' he claims. Mr Fabricant amended the motion to include the fact that this collection should be shown at a suitable venue in the town 'in recognition of the fact that the Hoard was found in the Lichfield constituency and contains religious artifacts'. The number of overseas visitors going on Canal Boat Holidays in the UK could be on the increase, UKinbound chief executive Mary Rance has claimed. |
