People on Staffordshire Canal Boat Holidays may soon find there is more wildlife to marvel at in the region, as residents are being encouraged to welcome creatures. British Waterways is involved in the scheme that aims to equip people with the knowledge they need to create a wildlife haven in their own back garden. It all forms part of the Canals for the Community project, which is aimed at getting local people to realise the value of having waterways in their community. Project officer Louise North commented: 'We hope more and more people will connect with nature and be inspired to actively pursue opportunities to enhance it, whether at home, on their local waterway or further afield. 'An Introduction to Wildlife course will be held at the Etruria Industrial Museum on April 30th, with the all-day event promising to inspire people on how to make their gardens better places for animals. |
