After months of restoration work British Waterways has refurbished a number of Baths most iconic canal features back to their former glory. The cast iron footbridges and the leaning Bath Chimney which are situated on the Bath Flight on the Kennet And Avon Canal have undergone refurbishment.
The Wash House Bridge was removed from site and taken to a specialist team at Dorothea Restorations in Bristol for restoration. The former pump house chimney which was built in 1840 was dismantled and stone masons where hired to repair the stonework and rebuild. David Viner, British Waterways heritage advisor, said We are absolutely delighted with the results of this restoration work and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the experts who have helped us.
