The Queen toasted the UKs special relationship with the US and told the president Barack Obama how their two nations are keeping the world safe. At a state banquet held at Buckingham Palace last night she thanked America for twice coming to the rescue of the free world in two world wars.
The 170 VIP guests invited to last nights state banquet included former prime ministers and diplomats as well as Hollywood stars including Tom Hanks and Kevin Spacey. In a packed day in London President Obama met Prime Minister David Cameron at Downing Street and Mr Obama and First Lady Michelle were given a 41gun salute by the Royal Artillery as they arrived at the Palace.
