According to a new survey the number of wild tigers in India is on the increase and there are now 1,706 living in India's forests, this is almost 300 more than when they were counted four years ago. However a cause of concern to experts is the routes the tigers take through the tree is on the decline due to building projects, mining and roads. Tigers are now extremely rare there are fewer than 3,500 wild tigers left in the world and more than half of these live in India. The count was conducted by India’s National Tiger Conservation Authority with key partners including WWF.
