The UK has so many waterways that it is the perfect place to take a Narrowboat holiday, an expert has suggested. Andrew Williams, managing director of the National Boat Shows, emphasised that boating is more than simply aspiring to purchase a multi-million pound vessel. 'Traditionally the whole of the south coast is a great area for boating - Cowes, Lymington - but there's much more than that,' he explained. Mr Williams also recommended that people head to Scotland for Canal Boat Holidays as there are some 'great boating venues'. According to the latest monthly overseas travel and tourism figures, published by the Office for National Statistics, overseas residents' visits to the UK increased by ten per cent to 7. 7 million in July. Furthermore, the total number of UK residents' visits abroad, not seasonally adjusted, decreased by ten per cent during the 12 months ending in July when compared to a year earlier. |
