From today, Monday 9th January and until further notice a large tree has slid down the offside cutting slope and has fallen across the canal. A contractor has been instructed to remove the tree as a soon as possible but because of the high number of windblown trees across our canal network, the contractor’s resources are stretched. Consequently British Waterways is unable to indicate a certain date as to when the navigation and towpath will be open again. Please moor up and await instructions from the British Waterways contractor. Winding is available at Bridge 33 near Hurdsfield to North and at Bridge 45 near Lyme Green.
