Cheshire canal boat holidays10-12-2009 : City walls renovations 'good for those on canal boat holidays in Cheshire' |
There will be a number of canal closures next year which will allow maintenance of chester's famous city walls, which could interest those looking at canal boat holidays in chester. Richard nickson, strategy manager for chester council, tells iccheshireonline that a number of sycamore trees alongside the canal could damage the city walls and that these will be removed before february, although this will require the canal to be closed while the work is performed.
He says: 'this vegetation clearance is also good basic maintenance - i am sure you would not leave a tree growing out of your house foundations, for example. 'the walls dominate the city and have been an impressive draw for tourists on canal boat holidays in chester for years.
These are at risk from the trees, which could cause an abrasion of the walls and could contribute to further collapses, the news provider suggests. In performing the work, this historic attraction can be maintained for future generations.
