Leicestershire canal boat holidays06-01-2010 : Canal residents 'still cosy despite the ice' |
Those on canal boat holidays in leicestershire are enjoying the cosiness of their boats despite the freezing cold outside. Jim redhead, a 60-year-old boat lover, tells the leicester mercury that he is protected from the cold of the otherwise frozen waterway by his coal burners.
While he says that he cannot move the vessel due to the ice, he claims that his brazier means that his boat is always warm. 'it can be the middle of winter and you'll have to open the doors because it's hot.
so we're all okay!' he explains. Mr redhead tells the news provider that there are five boats in similar situations this week but emphasises the fact that the conditions are rarely as harsh as they have been recently.
grand western canal manager mark baker recently asked those on canal boat holidays to be careful in the cold weather, thisisthewestcountry. Co. Uk has reported, as people's treatment of the ice can have consequences for the wildlife. |
