People on Canal Boat Holidays in the UK may find their trips to the north of England change if plans to cut funding to National Museums Liverpool go ahead. It is responsible for protecting museums and galleries throughout the city, but government cutbacks mean it could soon be at risk. A number of local celebrities have lent their support to a campaign to stop the attractions being affected, including Art Attack presenter Neil Buchanan and Russ Pritchard from The Zutons. 'I truly believe that in this high-tech modern age of transient fads and crazes - our museums are one of the few remaining ways in which our people can integrate with and participate in our heritage and culture,' Buchanan said. Liverpool was named the European Capital of Culture back in 2008, which attracted scores of visitors hoping to see what the city had to offer. |
