A major organisation in the capital has managed to raise £500 towards maintaining london waterways, those looking at canal boat holidays may be pleased to hear. The national landlords association, which represents private-residential landlords, has donated the money to thames21.
Instead of sending its customers christmas cards, the group decided to put its money towards improving conditions for those on canal boat holidays. the charity works to transform neglected and littered waterways, clearing up grot spots, removing graffiti and creating better habitats for wildlife.
Debbie leaech, chief executive of thames21, claimed that the donations given by companies from around the uk are an essential benefit to the those on canal boat holidays. She said: 'with the support of london's business community, we can engage even more people from all across london to improve and protect london's rivers and canals.
'earlier this month, royal society for the protection of birds policy media officer john clare recently called for steps to be taken to minimise the disruption to wildlife around canals by wind farms. |
