Anyone in search of a relaxing canal boat holiday in the cotswolds needs to consider heading towards somerset, as one of its cities has been named the uk's best spa destination. Bath has been hailed in the tripadvisor in the 2010 travellers' choice awards, competing with hundreds of locations across the globe.
It came in second place overall, losing out to sedona in arizona, but is nevertheless the best place in the uk to kick back and relax. Chris astbury, head of marketing at bath tourism plus, said: 'bath has been attracting visitors for rest and relaxation ever since the romans first came and this award shows that bath has continued to maintain its appeal and reputation.
'it was the only uk location to poll inside the top ten, with other destinations including oia in greece and mexico's santa fe. Bath has a range of events on throughout the year, including the bath international music festival that runs between may 26th and june 6th.
