People taking canal boat holidays in the uk could be provided with a new waterway in the years to come after the stover canal society was given the green light for a wide-ranging restoration project. The south devon canal has been sub-leased by teignbridge district council to the stover canal trust, which is made up of members of the society and local councils, bbc news reports.
Roger harding, chairman of the stover canal society, said that volunteers have already been hard at work clearing out vegetation from the waterway, although the full cost of the restoration is estimated at £5 million. 'it's a case of breaking down into bite-size pieces,' he told the news provider.
