Canal stoppages

From 2000 on 14th to noon on 15th May, as part of BWs expansion in the coverage of its SCADA network, a new measuring instrument has been installed upstream of Lock 88.

During this restriction padlocks will be placed on locks 88, 87, 86, 85, 65 and lock 1 of the Leigh Branch to prevent operation.

This is so, as part of the commissioning process BW require to undertake a series of scientific measurements of flows within the canal and in order to achieve this it is necessary to impose the above restriction so that boat movements do not interfere with the flows and cause inaccurate recording, during the commissioning exercise.

Canal Boat and craft users please follow instructions of BW staff and do not attempt to remove the padlocks and or traffic through the section during the times shown above.

Any Boats moored between these locations are requested to remain berthed during the period.
