Cheering crowds waving union jacks have greeted the Queen in Leicester where she has started her UK Diamond Jubilee tour.

The Queen watched cultural dancers before entering De Montfort University, where she is attending a fashion parade with the Duchess of Cambridge.

Six students will meet the Duchess at the fashion parade and each one of them will present her with a tailor made design for a pair of shoes, from which she will choose her favourite.

The Queen wore a cerise cashmere dress and coat with black trim and matching hat by Angela Kelly.

The duchess wore a suit by LK Bennett, a hat by James Lock, and Episode shoes.

The Diamond Jubilee tour will take the Queen and Prince Philip from the Isle of Wight to Birmingham, and from Merthyr Tydfil to Edinburgh and Glasgow and will finish on July 25th in the South East of England.

Follow in the Queens footsteps and visit the city of Leicester on a Canal Boat Holiday from Union Wharf Marina.
