03-07-2013 : VISIT THE EDBINBURGH CANAL FESTIVAL ON A CANAL BOAT HOLIDAY

Canal Boat Holiday guests exploring Scotland this weekend should moor up and visit the Edinburgh Canal Festival and Raft Race.

There will be a host of water based activities including canoe taster sessions, water walking, free boat trips and water rescue displays.

Along the quay the whole family can join in the fun, have a go at inflatable pole jousting, face painting, ride on the bike assault course or just browse among the many stalls.

Enjoy the live music from acts such as The Ringos, Spells Towers or the traditional Piper Hamish Moore.

Learn about the history of the Scotish Canal on the visual timeline.

Edinburgh can be reached on a Canal Boat Holiday from our only base in Scotland at Falkirk.

Our Canal Boat Holiday marina at Falkirk is close to Stirling and is easily reached from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The base is situated right beside the Falkirk Wheel visitor centre on Forth And Clyde Canal so a trip on the Wheel is right on the doorstep.

Do not pay to enter the site just tell them you are here for a Canal Boat Holiday.

The Scottish Lowland Canals are quite different to those in England, The Forth and Clyde is a sea canal and is much wider than the average English canal and The Union Canal is a contour canal and has no locks and no bridges.
