12-07-2013 : A CANAL BOAT HOLIDAY, MUSIC AND FAMILY FUN ALL AT THE PONTCYSYLLTE AQUEDUCT

If you are on a Canal Boat Holiday cruising the Llangollen Canal this coming weekend join in with 'underneath the arches' for an evening of musical entertainment and a day of family fun.

Tonight you can sit back and enjoy music from ‘The Big Beat’ and other local bands.

The awe-inspiring Pontsycyllte Aqueduct will be illuminated after dark and fireworks will bring the evening to a close.

Crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on a Canal Boat will give the effect of being suspended in mid-air.

Built by Thomas Telford and William Jessop and opened in 1805 it spans the Dee Valley at a height of 125 feet high.

In June 2009 it became a World Heritage site putting it on an equal footing with the Great Barrier Reef and Statue of Liberty.
