Staffordshire canal boat holidays

Thousands of little clay commuters have been fired as part of a major ceramics festival in Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire.

Created by the artist Lawrence Epps these miniature clay figures mark the British Ceramics Biennial which opens this Friday.

An army of around 6,000 terracotta figures has been scattered in Stoke train station and at various sites around London and commuters are being encouraged to pick them up and take them home.

Mr Epps said They are all fired to different temperatures that brings out different shades in the clay, like autumn leaves.

My work questions our relationship with office work: how we hate it and love it at the same time, and the way we need to work.

The British Ceramics Biennial is held every two years in the Potteries to showcase contemporary pottery and ceramic artists.

Visit Stoke on Trent and view the terracotta figures on a Canal Boat Holiday exploring Staffordshire.

From a Canal Boat Holiday booked from Alvechurch or Worcester explore the Staffordshire and Worcester Canal and the Potteries.
