27-11-2012 : A CANAL BOAT HOLIDAY CHRISTMAS IN BRISTOL

If you are on a Canal Boat Holiday cruising the Kennet And Avon Canal this December why not visit Bristol.

Christmas in Bristol has something to offer everyone from brilliant shopping to ice skating and from a traditional German market to Santa's Grotto.

In the heart of the city centre Bristol Shopping Quarter is home to hundreds of shops which are located in separate areas, Broadmead, Quakers Friars and Cabot Circus.

Located just north of Bristol is Cribbs Causeway, which is all that is best about high street and designer shopping.

Open for the Christmas period is the new Enchanted Ice Castle and this magical place is where the children can meet the Ice Queen and her Ice Fairies before walking through to greet Father Christmas and share their Christmas wishes.

Children of all ages can learn to skate on the brand new nursery rink, opening at the Winter Wonderland for the first time this year.

When you are all shopped out there are a host of restaurants and cafes for weary shoppers to rest their feet and enjoy a quick latte or a tasty lunch.

The German Christmas Market is open in Bristol Shopping Quarter this year until 29th December.

Shoppers can enjoy the 40 chalet market stalls selling traditional crafts, gifts and mouth watering festive German food and drink.

Go along and enjoy the beautiful Christmas pyramid, lights and nativity scene, bar, cafe with seating area and Christmas decorations.

Festive food and drink including German beer and mulled cider, bratwurst, waffles, apple rings, liquorice, chocolates, sugared nuts and cakes.

From 2nd to 24th December an advent calendar window will be opened daily and Santa will be giving away free presents to some lucky children.

For something different to do this Christmas take an evening bus journey through Bristol’s vivid and eclectic landscape, explore illuminated classic architecture and the watery harbour reflections.
