08-02-2013 : ARTWORKS TO BE PROJECTED ON UK LANDMARKS

Landmark building across the UK are to have art projected upon them later today to celebrate the completion of a website showing the national collection of oil paintings.

Among the 28 locations are the National Gallery in London, Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, Lincoln Castle and Exeter Cathedral.

Each location will show four paintings of national interest, as well as three paintings specific to its region.

Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers, held by the National Gallery in London, will be one of the four paintings that will be projected at every location.

Works by L S Lowry, Edwin Henry Landseer, Ronald George Lampitt and Rita Duffy will be shown in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland respectively, alongside pieces by other artists indigenous to each country.

If you enjoy art then there are a host of art galleries to visit in Britain on a Canal Boat Holiday.

Many of them have free entry which is brilliant if you are on a budget.

London is home to many galleries including The Tate Modern and Tate Britain, Saatchi Gallery, The Hayward and The National Gallery and can be reached from a Canal Boat Holiday booked from Aldermaston.

Also if you love art then believe it or not many can be found beside our canals and waterways.

If you book a Canal Boat Holiday from Alvechurch Marina you can cruise the Coventry Canal and follow the amazing art trail.

Coventry has a five and a half mile long outdoor art gallery which runs alongside the canal making it Britain's longest waterside art gallery.

Sixth form students from King Edwards College, Hansworth have joined forces with British Waterways and HSBC to brighten up the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal in central Birmingham.

A lock side wall has been transformed by the students with a mural that they have designed and painted onto the unusual canvas .
