18-06-2012 : BRAUNSTON CANAL FESTIVAL

This coming weekend will be one of fun and festivities in the village of Braunston which is located on the junction of the Oxford Canal and Grand Union Canal.

The events including live music, Morris dancers, Canal Boat horse demonstrations and a theatrical presentation.

On Sunday there will be an open air Songs of Praise church service and on Saturday the guest of honour will be Gayle Hunnicutt.

There will be a number of exhibitors and traders and a real beer tent in fact something for the whole family.

From your Canal Boat Holiday booked from Gayton cruise along the Oxford Canal to Braunston and join in the fun at the festival.

Explore Braunston a pretty hill top village that is often referred to as the Heart of England waterways.

Situated on the tow path is The Stop House, where tolls were collected by the Grand Junction, now Grand Union, Canal Company from the Canal Boats that passed by.

Take a guided tour through familiar scenes of the streets and buildings of the city where the Morse TV series was film.

Shop in the Covered Market, which was created in 1772 and is now a colourful collection of small shops selling everything from handmade hats and gifts to Oxford sausages.

Explore the smaller streets including Little Clarendon Street, Turl Street, Golden Cross and Gloucester Green all of which offer unique gift shops, boutiques and jewellers.
