UK Canal boat holidays

Canal Boat Holiday guests exploring the Trent And Mersey Canal this Sunday can enjoy a day of fun family activities at Trent Lock.

Moor up your Canal Boat for the day and head over to Trent Lock to re-discover all that you can see and do along the Trent And Mersey Canal.

Trent Lock is at the heart of the East Midlands waterway network and at a crossroads where four waterways meet.

As well as a range of Canal Boats, Narrowboats, canoes and rowing boats on the water, there will also be plenty on dry land to enjoy with a range of stands and demonstrations, live music, freshly cooked food, bouncy castles, face painting and guided wildlife walks.

Trent Lock based water rescue charity SARbot will be demonstrating some of the equipment they use to carry out underwater rescues and four-legged visitors will also be well-catered for with guided dog walks.

The day will also be an opportunity for people to find out about the Canal and River Trust who took over responsibility for the nation’s 2,000 mile network of canals and rivers from British Waterways in July 2013.

Members of the Trust will be on hand to explain what the charity has achieved in its first year and the ways in which local communities are having a greater say in how their waterways are run.
