An Oceanic Whitetip shark thought to be to blamed for hundreds of attacks on humans has been reported off the coast of Cornwall.

A Cornish fisherman who said his wooden boat was rammed as he fished for mackerel recently spotted the shark.

The harbour masters office in St Ives confirmed that a second person on a separate boat had also reported seeing the shark.

Shark experts said it was unlikely to have been an oceanic whitetip because the species is typically found in tropical waters and that there has never been a confirmed sighting in UK waters.

Richard Peirce who is the chairman of The Shark Trust said the shark could have been a mako or a basking shark.

Hopefully you will not encounter any Oceanic Whitetip Sharks on your Canal Boat Holiday but you will spot a variety of our favourite wildlife.

The canals are easily accessible and free to explore and they are the ideal destination for nature lovers.

As you gentle cruise along the canals on your Canal Boat Holiday you will get back to nature and have a chance to see the wildlife close up.

The towpath is home to a huge variety of birds and animals and many rare species thrive in the safe haven that the canal bank provides.

If you love wildlife and nature then a Canal Boat Holiday is a perfect choice for you.

On a Canal Boat Holiday every day the canal and surrounding areas spring into life with birds and animals.
