Prince Philip was born in Greece at his family home on Corfu on 10th June 1921 and is celebrating his 91st Birthday on Sunday.

He has been married to the Queen since 1947 when he presented her with a bracelet he had designed himself using stones that came from a tiara owned by his mother.

The Prince still works as hard as ever and is the patron of some 800 organisations and has been busy over the course of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

Unfortunately the work load took its toll on the Duke and he was admitted to hospital in the middle of the Jubilee weekend.

However, thankfully, The Duke of Edinburgh is said to be in good spirits at the King Edward VII hospital where he is being treated.

The Duke of Edinburgh is likely to return to Windsor over the weekend and is expected to mark his birthday privately on Sunday.

Visit the beautiful town of Windsor on a Canal Boat Holiday booked from our Aldermaston Marina.

The Aldermaston Wharf at Padworth near to Reading is conveniently situated to cruise the peaceful and scenic Kennet And Avon Canal and The River Thames.

During your Canal Boat Holiday visit Windsor Castle one of the Queens favourite homes and where the Duke of Edinburgh will hopefully be celebration his 91st Birthday.

Aldermaston is only about one and half hours away from central London so it is an ideal choice for a short Canal Boat Holiday away from the city .
