Heritage Open Days celebrates Englands architecture and culture by offering people free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Every year on four days in September properties ranging from castles to factories to town halls and tithe barns open their doors for a wide range of tours.

As part of this years Heritage Open Days you can enjoy free boat trips and activities on the Oxford Canal.

There will be stalls, activities, crafts and displays in Pocket Park and Canal Boat trips will depart from Pocket Park or from above Isis Lock.

You can take advantage of the Heritage days and explore the Oxford Canal on a Canal Boat Holiday booked from Gayton Marina.

Cruise to Oxford on your Canal Boat Holiday and explore the city where the Morse TV series , based on the award winning novels by Colin Dexter, were filmed.

On the Oxford Canal visit Tooleys Boatyard where canal pioneer Tom Rolt set out on his 1930s journey around the waterways.

His travels in his Canal Boat Cressy were immortalised in the book Narrow Boat which directly led to the formation of the Inland Waterways Association.

Moor up at Braunston a pretty canal side village which is famous for the annual historic Boat Rally held at the end of June.
