02-05-2013 : LET THE KIDS HAVE FUN ON A CANAL BOAT HOLIDAY

The National Trust has updated its list of 50 things to do before you reach 11 ¾ because so many kids have already completed the original list.

The most popular adventures that kids took part in this year were tree-climbing, den-building and bike-riding.

The National Trust released the original list in 2012 because they wanted to encourage more of you to get outside.

Building on the National Trusts Natural Childhood report a summit was held for experts to meet and discuss solutions for how they can bring young people and nature closer together.

Catching tadpoles, flying kites, building dens and climbing trees should be staples of every childhood.

If you want to get your children out in the great outdoors why not consider booking a Canal Boat Holiday.

Your family will have so much fun on a Canal Boat Holiday you may be forgiven for thinking that the canals were built solely for children.

The thrills and excitement of being outdoors on a Canal Boat are are endless for the whole family from start to finish.

With plenty of fresh air and exercise, constantly changing scenery, working as a team, the wildlife and days out you will never hear those dreaded words I'm bored.

The kids can, under adult supervision, help to steer what other holiday offers them the opportunity to do this.

They love to help at the locks and will soon be handling them like experts, they can be given a range of tasks, depending on their capabilities, they can help to moor up the boat or hold it to the bank with ropes.

Before you leave fire up their imaginations and get them excited about their Canal Boating Holiday.

Find out how the locks work, discover a little history of the canals, plan your route, invest in a book on nature and learn some of the names of the wildlife or fauna you may see.
