UK Canal boat holidays

A man walking his dog has reportedly found a royal python on the banks of a canal in Doncaster.

The RSPCA said the three feet long female snake was probably abandoned by its owner and would probably would not have lived very long in the wild.

The non venomous royal python is found in Africa and survives on a diet of rodents.

Hopefully you will not encounter any pythons on your Canal Boat Holiday but there are a wealth of other species you will spot.

As you gentle cruise along on your Canal Boat Holiday you will get back to nature and have a chance to see and hear it close up.

Nature comes to you on a Canal Boat Holiday look out for the otters and water vole that make the canal banks their home.

A Canal Boat Holiday is an excellent way of getting close to nature so why not buy a wildlife or bird book and see how many species you can spot.

The kids will love a note book so that they can keep a record of what they have seen.

Listen for an owl hooting or for a nightingale singing at dusk or at first light listen for blackbirds, robins and wrens as the dawn chorus sounds the start of morning.

If you are really lucky you may spot a flash of blue as a kingfisher darts into the reeds or you may see a kestrel hovering overhead.
