04-05-2013 : VISIT CADBURY WORLD ON A CANAL BOAT HOLIDAY

Whilst on your Canal Boat Holiday in the midlands visit Cadbury World this weekend for some swashbuckling fun.

Between 4th and 6th May they are planning a a fun filled pirate weekend when the Cadbury World shipmates will be dressed up.

Some lucky pirates from the visiting buccaneers will have the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

There will be lots of sea faring fun to amuse and entertain all scallywags including a treasure hunt and pirate fun.

Located at Bournville this world famous chocolate factory takes you on a tour to see your favourite chocolate being made.

Visit the Cadbury museum for the history of chocolate from the Aztec's to present day.

It was in 1879 that George and Richard Cadbury moved their chocolate factory from Birmingham to its present site at Bournville.

In 1893 George bought 120 acres of land and built at his own expense a model village for his workforce.

The Cadburys were concerned for the health and the welfare of their workforce and encouraged swimming, walking and outdoor sport building a lido sports pitches and a running track.

You will not find any public houses in the village as the Cadburys were strict Quakers.

The Cadburys also owned a fleet if immaculate painted Canal Boats to carry the raw materials to the factory.

So if you are a chocoholic and out on you Canal Boat Holiday from Alvechurch Marina moor up outside Cadbury World for a fantastic day out.
