02-03-2012 : WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE COINS ON DISPLAY IN LONDON

The worlds most valuable coin is an American gold Double Eagle coin from 1933 and is engraved with an image of Lady Liberty.

The face value of the coin is 20 dollars but the actual worth is much more, at around 4 million.

The coin is incredibly rare as only half a million were made and none of them made it into circulation.

Most were immediately melted down by the American government because the value of the gold became higher than twenty dollars.

For a chance to see this coin on display at the Goldsmiths Hall in London book a Canal Boat Holiday from Aldermaston Marina.

On your Canal Boat Holiday from Aldermaston explore the Kennet And Avon Canal and the River Thames and cruise straight into the heart of London.

Explore the attractions of the city along the River Thames including The London Eye, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade,Tate Britain, Westminster Abbey.

Tower Bride and the Museum of London Docklands.

Take time on your Canal Boat Holiday in London and visit one of the many museum and galleries.

Visit Goldsmiths Hall, which is very close to St Pauls Cathedral and view the Double Eagle and take a tour which has been arranged by the Samlerhuset Group, parent company of The London Mint Office, in conjunction with the Smithsonians National Museum of American History, based in Washington DC.
