17-01-2013 : YEAR OF THE BOAT

If you are cruising the Gloucester And Sharpness Canal on your Canal Boat Holiday moor a while in the historic docks and visit the Waterways Museum.

The Waterways Museum in Gloucester is hosting Year of the Boat an exhibition by highly acclaimed artist Rob Pointon.

The exhibit is inspired by the beauty of the country’s network of inland waterways.

Rob embarked on a year long painting project touring the canal network on a Narrowboat.

Year of the Boat is a collection of 80 paintings exhibited for sale on the third floor of Gloucester Waterways Museum.

Whilst on your Canal Boat Holiday to Gloucester visit the magnificent Cathedral and if the vaulted cloisters look familiar that is because it was where some scenes of the Harry Potter films were filmed.

The children's novel The Taylor of Gloucester by Beatrix Potter was published in 1903 and tells the story of a group of mice helping a tailor finish his work in time for Christmas, visit The House of the Tailor of Gloucester where this charming story is told.

Soak up the atmosphere of historic city as you stroll down narrow cobbled streets and past ancient buildings and into the main pedestrianised shopping area.

Shopping is full of pleasant surprises as well as all the usual high street stores Gloucester also boasts a wide range of unique and fascinating specialist shops.

Visit the market which is a great place to pick up a bargain and also has stalls selling traditional local produce such as the famous Gloucester sausage.
