Warwickshire canal boat holidays

17-09-2013 : WARWICK MOP FAIR

If you are thinking about visiting the Warwick Mop Fair this October why not consider booking a Canal Boat Holiday.

Your holiday home will be close to you just get up in the morning step off your Canal Boat and you will be right in the centre of all of the activities.

At the end of an exciting day just head for home, which will only be a few feet away moored on the canal tow path.

For Centuries Warwick has been hosting the annual Mop Fair and Runaway Mop Fair and these are two of the towns oldest traditions, they first started nearly seven hundred years ago when the event was for a hiring local labourers.

The town of Warwick itself is worth an explore and is set amidst historic building where there are a vast array of antique and second hand bookshops.

Warwick has a great variety of cafes, restaurants and other eateries.

If you think that history can be a bit stuffy then clearly you have not been to Warwick Castle.

Warwick Castle is fun fun fun from medieval mayhem in the form of the Horrible Histories Foul Fayres to the Vikings that meet you at the castle gates.

Champion for the Warwick Warriors, who give a knightly or should that be daily display of chopping a wooden pole with their swords.

Take a tour of the castle from the main hall of the fortress, which dates from 1086 and the reign of William the Conqueror up to the ramparts for a great view of the castle and the River Avon.
